Two weeks in StockholmAugust 11, 2012
I’ve already spent two weeks in Stockholm, in some ways it feels like I’ve been here for months and in some ways it feels like I’ve only just arrived.
So what’s happened since my last post (First 24 hours)?
Quite a lot actually, I’ve gotten to know a large part of central Stockholm (Södermalm-City-Gamla stan). I feel comfortable navigating through out the subway system. There’s really only one thing I can’t get used to, not speaking Finnish. Even though I’m in no way fluent in the Finnish language, it’s usually my language of choice when speaking with unfamiliar faces.
Last week I started my new job as a front-end developer at bazooka. It’s a really fun place and I’m really look forward to meet and getting to know everybody there, I’ve met most of them, but some are still on vacation.
Almost done with all the paperwork
I’ve recieved my SSN, I’ve applied for a bank account, though it did prove to be rather hard opening a new account without a Swedish ID, even though I have both a valid European/Finnish passport as well as all my Finnish driver’s license and the paperwork from the Swedish tax department, after lots of if’s and but’s they agreed to open a bank account for me.
There’s only two things I still haven’t done, order a Swedish ID and applying for Försäkringskassan. But I’ll try to cross those things of my list next week.
I’m pretty bad at updating this blog and writing long posts about my experiences, but I’ll try to write more often. (But I am quite active on twitter).
